Product details +
Borno — a letter and a colour.
Ivory Batik Tussar becomes a canvas for script and colour.
Across the body, Bengali letters appear in grey against the ivory ground.
Language becomes pattern.
Pattern becomes cloth.
Then colour begins at the edge.
The skirt border carries hand-painted shapes in yellow, green and blue, shifting the saree away from the restrained grey-and-ivory body.
The pallu takes that colour further.
Hand-painted shapes in yellow, green and pink move throughout the pallu.
Ivory.
Grey script.
Then colour opening at the close.
According to the supplied craft information, Batik is a wax-resist craft. Molten wax is applied to the cloth by hand before dyeing, and as the wax cools and cracks, fine lines of dye can seep through to create Batik's characteristic veined effect. Some pieces also carry hand-painted work alongside the resist.
Here, the Batik work is paired with Bengali lettering and multicoloured hand-painted forms.
Made by hand in Bolpur, Birbhum, West Bengal, with a supplied making time of approximately 10–12 days.
The blouse piece returns to the quiet ivory ground in silk, with a border at the sleeves.
Wear it and be read.

Care & handmade variations +
Dry clean only.
Borno combines wax-resist Batik with hand-painted detailing. Slight variations in the Bengali lettering, resist-dyed edges, hand-painted shapes and colour distribution may naturally occur. According to the supplied craft information, no two Batik lengths emerge exactly alike.
Shipping & final sale +
Dispatches in 3–5 business days. Shipping within India only. All sales are final. Returns are not accepted.
Grey Bengali lettering turns the ivory Tussar body into a field of script, while hand-painted yellow, green, blue and pink forms bring colour gradually into the border and pallu.
Made in Bolpur, Batik uses wax to resist dye and create its characteristic irregular edges; here, multicoloured hand-painted forms add another handmade layer to the cloth.
