Product details +

Chakri — little wheels.

Black and white circles turn across grey Kota Doriya.

Repeated.

Graphic.

Placed by hand through the Dabu process.

The body carries circular motifs in black and white, keeping the palette deliberately disciplined against the grey ground.

Then comes the only warmth.

A thin golden zari border with diamond-shaped motifs runs along the edge.

The pallu picks up the geometry rather than the circles, carrying diamond-shaped motifs in thin stripes across its width.

Circles through the body.

Diamonds at the edge.

Diamonds again at the close.

Grey, black and white hold the field.

Gold is enough as a line.

According to the supplied craft information, Dabu is a mud-resist hand block printing tradition of Rajasthan. A resist paste made from mud and natural binders is pressed onto the cloth with carved wooden blocks before dyeing. When the paste is washed away, the resisted pattern remains.

Every impression is placed individually by hand, block beside block, so small shifts in alignment belong naturally to the character of the cloth.

Worked in Rajasthan using the hand block print method, with a supplied making time of approximately 12–15 days.

The blouse piece is plain grey Kota Doriya with a zari border and diamond-shaped motifs.

Graphic, cool and very wearable.

WHY AAYTA CHOSE IT

Circles turn. Diamonds hold the edge.

Black-and-white circles keep the grey body graphic and cool, while a narrow line of gold introduces diamond geometry at the border and carries it through the pallu.

THE CRAFT

Dabu, geometry placed by hand.

In Rajasthan's Dabu tradition, mud resist is pressed onto cloth with carved wooden blocks before dyeing, allowing repeated geometry to retain the small shifts of the hand.
