Product details +

Golap Kuri — a rosebud.

Onion pink forms the ground. Across it, Jamdani flower motifs are woven individually by hand, appearing like small blooms scattered through the cotton.

At the edge, there is no heavy border. No zari. Only a thin sage green selvedge. Pink and green, bud and leaf. The pallu gathers the Jamdani flowers more closely, changing the rhythm without changing the language of the saree.

Jamdani motifs are created through an extra-weft technique, with each motif individually built into the fabric by hand. That makes the flowers part of the weave itself rather than surface decoration.

Handwoven on a pit loom in Nadia, West Bengal. The cotton blouse piece is plain pink with a green striped border.

Light as the first hour of a celebration.

Care & handmade variations +

Cold water wash.
Golap Kuri is handwoven on a pit loom, with Jamdani motifs individually created through an extra-weft technique.
Slight variations in motif placement, spacing, selvedge and weave may naturally occur.
According to the supplied craft information, the beauty of Jamdani lies in the dialogue between the hand, the loom and the imagination. Small irregularities are part of that handmade character and should not automatically be considered defects.

WHY AAYTA CHOSE IT

A rosebud doesn’t need gold.

Onion-pink cotton carries scattered Jamdani flowers, while a fine sage-green edge frames the cloth before the blooms gather at the pallu.

THE CRAFT

Jamdani, flowers built into cloth.

Jamdani builds motifs into fine cotton through an extra-weft technique. Here, individual flowers are woven across an onion-pink ground, framed by a thin sage-green selvedge, before the floral motifs gather more closely across the pallu.
