Product details +
Gulabi Kamal — the pink lotus.
Small lotus motifs repeat across pink Chanderi silk.
Light pink.
Black.
Placed by hand through the Dabu process.
The body carries small lotus motifs all over, keeping the pattern fine against the pink ground.
Then geometry enters at the edge.
A thin golden zari border with diamond-shaped motifs gives the floral body a precise frame.
The pallu brings another scale into the composition, setting panels of diamond-shaped motifs beside small polka dots.
Lotuses through the body.
Diamonds at the edge.
Diamonds and dots at the close.
The blouse piece picks up that final detail with tiny white polka dots on pink and a diamond-shaped motif border.
According to the supplied craft information, Dabu is a mud-resist hand block printing tradition of Rajasthan. A resist paste made from mud and natural binders is pressed onto the cloth with carved wooden blocks before dyeing. When the paste is washed away, the resisted pattern remains.
Every impression is placed individually by hand, block beside block, so small shifts in alignment belong naturally to the character of the cloth.
Worked in Rajasthan using the hand block print method, with a supplied making time of approximately 12–15 days.
Soft colour, precise pattern: pretty without being sweet.
