Product details +

Meghla Din — a cloudy day.

The blue here is not quite sky.

It is greyish blue — slate softened, the colour of weather still deciding what it will do.

Across that cotton ground, Jamdani flower motifs are individually woven by hand.

They appear lightly through the body before gathering more closely at the pallu.

Then comes green.

A green border and selvedge run alongside the grey-blue body — like wet fields beneath a monsoon sky.

According to the supplied Jamdani craft information, each motif is created through an extra-weft technique, built individually into the cloth during weaving.

Nothing is printed onto the surface.

The pattern belongs to the weave.

Handwoven on a pit loom in Nadia (Badtehatta / Senpur), West Bengal, with a supplied making time of approximately 3–4 days.

The cotton blouse piece continues the palette in plain greyish blue with green selvedge and stripes.

A saree for those who love the monsoon a little more than the summer.

Care & handmade variations +

Cold water wash.
Meghla Din is handwoven on a pit loom, with Jamdani motifs individually created through an extra-weft technique.
Slight variations in motif placement, spacing, border, selvedge and weave may naturally occur.
According to the supplied craft information, Jamdani is shaped by the relationship between the hand, the loom and the imagination. Small irregularities are part of that handmade character and should not automatically be considered defects.

WHY AAYTA CHOSE IT

A cloudy sky, waiting for rain.

Greyish-blue cotton holds scattered Jamdani flowers, while a green edge adds quiet contrast before the blooms gather at the pallu.

THE CRAFT

Jamdani, motif by motif.

Jamdani builds motifs into fine cotton through an extra-weft technique. Here, individual flowers emerge across a greyish-blue ground, while green defines the border and the floral motifs gather more closely through the pallu.
