Product details +

Morni Baag — the peahen's garden.

Deep bottle green Kala Cotton forms the ground.

Across it, tiny motifs are woven all over the body — small points of pattern scattered through the dark green like seeds in foliage.

The border introduces the first shift in colour.

Maroon and blue.

Deep green through the field.

Dark colour holding the edge.

Then the pallu becomes brighter.

Thin vertical stripes of Kutchi weave in pink and yellow thread run through the pallu, accompanied by tiny handwoven motifs.

Sober field.

Bright display.

The peahen's own logic.

According to the supplied craft information, Kala Cotton is an indigenous, rain-fed cotton native to Kutch. In Bhujodi weaving, geometric patterns are built thread by thread through precise counting of warp and weft, bringing the natural texture of the cotton together with counted extra-weft artistry.

Handwoven on a pit loom in Bhujodi (Bhuj), Gujarat.

The Kala Cotton blouse piece returns to the body colour in bottle green with a thin vertical strip of Kutchi weave.

Grounded, softly festive.
