Product details +
Neeli Titli — the blue butterfly.
Butterflies move across indigo Mul Cotton.
Small.
Repeated.
Placed by hand through the Dabu process.
The body carries butterfly motifs all over, with white standing against the indigo ground.
There is no zari here.
Instead, the border keeps to the same restrained palette with indigo and white stripes.
The pallu opens those lines out further into wide panels of blue and white stripes.
Butterflies through the body.
Stripes at the edge.
Wider stripes at the close.
The composition stays light and uncomplicated.
According to the supplied craft information, Dabu is a mud-resist hand block printing tradition of Rajasthan. A resist paste made from mud and natural binders is pressed onto the cloth with carved wooden blocks before dyeing. When the paste is washed away, the resisted pattern remains.
Every impression is placed individually by hand, block beside block, so small shifts in alignment belong naturally to the character of the cloth.
Worked in Rajasthan using the hand block print method, with a supplied making time of approximately 12–15 days.
The blouse piece is Mul Cotton with thin vertical stripes in indigo and light blue, continuing the linear language of the border and pallu.
An everyday cotton with a little flight in it.
