Product details +

Patti Bel — a trail of leaves.

Leaf motifs move across green Kota silk from end to end.

Repeated.

Organic.

Placed by hand through the Dabu process.

The body carries leaf motifs all over, allowing one simple form to build the entire field.

A thin golden zari border runs alongside it, giving the green a precise metallic edge without interrupting the pattern.

Then the pallu changes register.

The leaves give way to thin strips of black and white motifs — graphic where the body is organic.

Leaves through the field.

Gold at the edge.

Black and white at the close.

According to the supplied craft information, Dabu is a mud-resist hand block printing tradition of Rajasthan. A resist paste made from mud and natural binders is pressed onto the cloth with carved wooden blocks before dyeing. Once the paste is washed away, the resisted pattern remains.

Every impression is placed individually by hand, block beside block, so small shifts in alignment belong naturally to the character of the cloth.

Worked in Rajasthan using the hand block print method, with a supplied making time of approximately 12–15 days.

The blouse piece is plain green Kota silk with a golden border and thin black and white stripes, bringing together the saree's three principal visual elements.

Easy, green and well judged.

WHY AAYTA CHOSE IT

Leaves first. Geometry at the close.

Repeated leaves soften the green Kota silk body, a thin gold line holds the edge, and black-and-white motif strips give the pallu an unexpected graphic finish.

THE CRAFT

Dabu, repetition placed by hand.

In Rajasthan's Dabu tradition, mud resist is applied with carved wooden blocks before dyeing, leaving each repeated motif with the small variations that reveal the hand behind it.
