Product details +
Peeli Chhatri — little yellow umbrellas.
Mushroom-shaped motifs pop up across yellow Chanderi silk.
Unexpected.
Playful.
Placed by hand through the Dabu process.
The body carries mushroom-shaped motifs all over, with black standing clearly against the yellow ground.
An unusual motif on a colour that already likes attention.
Then geometry takes over at the edge.
A thin golden zari border with diamond-shaped motifs gives the playful body a precise frame.
The pallu removes the mushrooms altogether and concentrates on panels of diamond-shaped motifs.
Mushrooms through the body.
Gold and diamonds at the edge.
Diamond panels at the close.
According to the supplied craft information, Dabu is a mud-resist hand block printing tradition of Rajasthan. A resist paste made from mud and natural binders is pressed onto the cloth with carved wooden blocks before dyeing. When the paste is washed away, the resisted pattern remains.
Every impression is placed individually by hand, block beside block, so small shifts in alignment belong naturally to the character of the cloth.
Worked in Rajasthan using the hand block print method, with a supplied making time of approximately 12–15 days.
The blouse piece is plain yellow Chanderi silk with a zari border and diamond-shaped motifs, continuing the geometry of the saree's edge.
For people who enjoy a second look.
